Fujirockers: The official fansite of the Fuji Rock Festival

Despite Fuji Rock almost always running on time, Predawn’s Mokudotei start was delayed a few minutes to ensure that she wouldn’t be drowned out by Theatre Brook’s performance at the nearby Field Of Heaven.  By the time she got the green light to begin, the boardwalk and its surrounding foliage was crowded with bodies.  Having played Day Dreaming at FRF ’09, the singer-songwriter was well prepared for her Saturday afternoon set.  Armed with only an acoustic guitar and her pretty innocent voice, she shared her soft pop tales of innocence, love, and longing with an attentive crowd in the forest.

Taiwan Fuji Rock Facebook Group

We’ve  heard a lot about the artists  and now it’s time to hear from some of the fans!

Yesterday, the Taiwan Fuji Rock Facebook group help a meeting a the Le Beau Lieu, a trendy, French-themed coffee shop which offers little aside from US$5  lattes  and tiny platters of ginger snaps.

A dozen people were seated at tables that had been pulled together in one long line. Some clutched swatches of weather-resistant material (silver on one side, black on the other) which one member bought in bulk and was freely sharing with others.

While similar in age, the group was divergent in terms of profession and work experience. There was the owner of a popular downtown music store that specialized in Korean pop, a Warner Music executive, a bank employee, and a pony-tailed dude whose previous festival experience included going to  Japan’s Loud Park on two occasions.

Well I think that we can still say that Disco-Punk is still hot and DFA is still cool, but it doesn’t mean anything to James Murphy. “I spent my whole life wanting to be cool… but I’ve come to realize that coolness doesn’t exist the way I once assumed,” he said. And now we know that LCD Soundsystem show us something in their new album This Is Happening, but I still highly recommend you check the lyrics of the single You Wanted A Hit. It’s crystal clear.

Alexander Ridha a.k.a. Boysnoize

After the trademark which was established by his remixes for Justice, Tiga, Bloc Party…etc and his debut album“Oi Oi Oi”, Boys Noize brought us a totally different atmosphere with the 2nd album “Power”. Somehow it’s just like a revolution that kicks all the mainstream Electro’asses. I’m not saying Boys Noize is a genius or what, but I’m saying he is always making his attitude. When you hear it, you’ll know that it is the Noize of da German Boy.

Everytime I listen to The XX, I just can’t figure out what composes them. Soulful female vocal and casual male vocal? Crystal guitar riff and bassline? Old minimal drum beat? Technically, yes; emotionally, I will say it’s made by romance, simply. Perhaps it just because of the lonely summer in Tokyo, I will need The XX’s live to keep me alive.

Jamaica

Paris Electro-Rock duo Jamaica have made us waiting their debut album for a long time since they were Poney Poney. And we’ve been told for a hundred times that Justice’s Xavier will be their producer. Now with the new Electro-Surfin’Rock track I Think I Like U 2 and a fresh new album edition of the single Cross The Fader coming, I believe that all we have to do in their Fujirock gig is dancing with them and feel like playing on a beach, in Paris, in 1975.
