THE MUSIC @ FUKUOKA DRUMS LOGOS
This band just barely missed my nosebleed-worthy list from last week and are probably not old old enough for Don’s nostalgia wave, but after three (almost a fourth) spectacular albums and ten years, The Music have decided to call it quits. The band and its members has had a few ups and downs over the years, but their music hasn’t suffered because of it. World tour veterans, they’ll be returning to Japan as part of their “farewell tour”, saying one last goodbye to new and old fans. They’ll be hitting up Osaka, Nagoya and Shibuya AX before a final Japan performance at Fuji Rock on the 31st of July. After that, they’ll be finishing their lives as The Music back where they started, in Leeds.
Quoting the band from the official website, they said this of their upcoming final shows:
“We’ve come so far together and now it’s time to end things the right way and in the place we love the most – onstage playing live. We’re going to give it our all for these last times together and it’s going to be emotional, but were really glad to get back to Japan one last time where people have been so good to us over the years, and we send our love and thoughts to everyone there who has been affected by the terrible events of March 11th. We’ll be saying thank you to so many people over these dates and we’ll start now by saying thanks to anyone who’s been with us on this incredible trip. We’re all looking to the future and what comes next, but we’ll always be grateful for the years, times and experiences we’ve shared. We’re going to make these shows as much of a party as we can, and we hope people turn up to celebrate with us.”
And the boys aren’t shy about showing their gratitude. Not only are they doing a run of last performances, they’ve also released the single “Ghost Hands”, which was originally supposed to appear on their 4th album. Better yet, the single is free for download on their website.
Check it out here:
Vocalist Robert Harvey about the last single:
“We love the track and it just seemed a shame to leave it gathering dust for ever. It’s good to go out with something positive and new and we think it deserves to see the light of day. Hopefully the fans will agree – again we want to thank everyone who’s been with us on this journey and look forward to celebrating an amazing ten years this summer.”
So don’t miss this last chance to check out their energetic live performances, because it looks like the 6th of August will be the day The Music dies.
