Kitty, Daisy, and Lewis?
Sometimes it’s easy to guess where an act’s going to appear. If Kitty, Daisy & Lewis aren’t booked for the Palace of Wonder, I’ll buy you all tickets to the festival. Quiffs, double bass, retro fashion, swing and rocking blues… even if they play elsewhere, they’re bound to play the Palace.
Though their Myspace page says they play “R&B / Country”, swing seems just as much a part of their sound, and you get the impression they’ve never heard anything recorded since 1965. They list their influences as Louis Jordan, Johnny Cash, Muddy Waters and Blind Lemon Jefferson, among others. It’s a pretty good guess that these three siblings have parents with an awesomely cool record collection. Their folks are probably brutal, hard-tasking bastards too, because these kids have learned to play the banjo, harmonica, ukelele, drums, guitar, xylophone, trombone, accordion and piano.
According to Wikipedia, the Brit trio has played Glastonbury and Blue Peter (British kid’s TV show). They’ve also supported both Billy Bragg and Coldplay. It’s easy to picture them with Bragg, but what on earth were they doing in a stadium with the insufferable whine rockers? At Fuji, for sure, they’ll be in the tent where they belong.
